David Lampel

President & CEO

Built in the Dealership. Focused on Helping Dealers Win.

David Lampel doesn't look at the automotive industry from the outside. He spent nearly three decades living it.

Before becoming President and CEO of Dealerwing, David built his career inside dealerships—starting on the showroom floor and working his way through sales, finance, management, and ultimately dealership ownership as a partner in a multi-rooftop dealer group within Greenway Automotive.

That experience matters. David understands what it means to make decisions when the numbers are real, the employees are yours, the customers are yours, and profitability ultimately falls on your shoulders. He understands the pressure dealers face to sell more vehicles, retain more customers, generate more service traffic, manage marketing expenses, develop their people, and protect profitability in an increasingly competitive business.

Most importantly, David understands dealerships because he was a dealer.

From the Showroom Floor to Dealer Ownership

After graduating from Virginia Tech with a degree in finance, David entered the automotive business on the showroom floor. Rather than coming into the industry as a technology provider, consultant, or marketer, he learned the business from the inside out.

He progressed through sales, finance, and management before becoming a partner in a multi-rooftop dealership organization within Greenway Automotive. Working across virtually every level of dealership operations gave David a perspective that continues to influence how he approaches automotive technology today.

He saw firsthand where dealerships make money—and where opportunities quietly disappear. He experienced the challenges surrounding customer retention, service traffic, marketing accountability, operational efficiency, and profitability. He also saw how difficult it can be for dealers to determine which marketing programs are actually producing incremental business and which are simply taking credit for customers who were already coming back.

Those experiences became the foundation for what David would do next.

Taking a Dealer's Perspective Into Automotive Technology

Following the sale of his stores, David transitioned into automotive technology and marketing. But he brought something different with him: the perspective of the dealer sitting on the other side of the desk.

As David began working more extensively with dealership marketing and fixed operations, he identified what he believed was a fundamental problem affecting dealership performance—data. Dealers were investing significant amounts of money trying to reach customers, increase retention, and drive service traffic, but many of those programs depended on customer information that was inaccurate, incomplete, duplicated, fragmented, or outdated. The technology could only be as effective as the data driving it.

David recognized an opportunity to approach dealership marketing differently: start with clean, validated data, identify genuine opportunities within the customer lifecycle, and then use technology and marketing to produce measurable results.

Leading Dealerwing

Today, David serves as President and CEO of Dealerwing, where he leads the development of an AI-driven marketing ecosystem built specifically for franchised automobile dealerships. Dealerwing works with more than 1,000 dealerships nationwide, helping dealers improve service retention, increase customer-pay revenue, and optimize marketing performance through clean, validated data and measurable strategies.

David's dealership background remains at the center of that mission. He approaches technology with a simple question: Does this actually help the dealer? That dealer-first philosophy influences how Dealerwing evaluates data, develops technology, measures marketing performance, and identifies opportunities throughout the ownership lifecycle.

Rather than technology for technology's sake, David believes technology should solve real dealership problems and produce outcomes that operators can understand and measure.

A Dealer-First Approach to Fixed Operations

David has developed particular expertise in fixed operations, customer retention, data integrity, lifecycle marketing, and the application of AI to dealership marketing. He understands that the service drive represents far more than repair orders. It is one of a dealership's most important opportunities to maintain the customer relationship, generate recurring revenue, increase lifetime customer value, and ultimately influence the customer's next vehicle purchase.

His experience as a dealer gives him a practical perspective on these issues. He knows that increasing service retention isn't simply a marketing objective. It affects absorption, profitability, customer loyalty, future vehicle sales, and the overall value of the dealership.

That is why David focuses on connecting dealership data with actionable opportunities—helping dealers identify who should be contacted, why they should be contacted, when they should be contacted, and how the results should be measured.

Nearly 30 Years of Seeing the Business From the Dealer's Side

The automotive industry is changing rapidly. Artificial intelligence, automation, data, and new consumer expectations are creating tremendous opportunities, but technology alone isn't the answer.

David believes the best automotive technology starts with an understanding of how a dealership actually operates. That is the perspective he brings to Dealerwing and to every conversation he has with dealers.

He has sold the cars. He has worked the desk. He has been responsible for dealership performance. He has owned stores. And today, he is using those experiences to build technology designed to help the next generation of dealers become more successful.

That combination of nearly three decades of dealership experience and modern automotive technology leadership is what makes David Lampel different. He isn't a technology executive trying to understand dealers. He's a dealer using technology to solve dealership problems.
