Your dealership has enormous amounts of customer information. But having more data doesn't necessarily mean having better data.
Customer information is often scattered across the DMS, CRM, OEM systems, BDC platforms, recall databases and marketing vendors. Each system can contain a different version of the same customer.
That creates a costly problem.
Duplicate records, inaccurate vehicle ownership, outdated contact information, incomplete service histories and disconnected systems can directly impact marketing performance, customer retention and Fixed Operations revenue.
In this Fixed Ops Roundtable discussion from Paragon Honda in Queens, New York, David Lampel joins Brian Benstock, Ted Ings and Sarah Vantine to discuss why dealerships need to start treating clean customer data as a strategic business asset.
As a former new car dealer and an automotive industry veteran who today works with more than 1,000 dealerships nationwide through Dealerwing, David brings a practical dealership perspective to the conversation.
His message is simple: Dirty data isn't just an IT problem. It's a revenue problem.
When dealership data is properly aggregated, validated, deduplicated and organized, dealers can develop a much clearer understanding of:
- Who the customer actually is
- What vehicle they currently own
- Their service and repair history
- How they can be contacted
- Where they are in the ownership lifecycle
- What service opportunities may exist
- Which marketing messages are actually relevant
That becomes even more important as dealerships invest in artificial intelligence. AI can identify patterns, prioritize opportunities and improve targeting—but it depends on accurate information. Better data creates better targeting, better customer experiences, better attribution and better Fixed Ops results.
